Melissa Yelito
Founder and Special Education Advocate, MY Advocacy LLC
Melissa is the founder of MY Advocacy LLC, providing educational advocacy and transition consulting services to families throughout the Greater Philadelphia Area. A former educator, she taught grades 1 through 7 in Pennsylvania and Maryland before transitioning in 2021, after seven years in the classroom, to focus exclusively on supporting families navigating the complexities of the special education system.
Melissa believes that parents are their child’s first and most important advocates. She is deeply committed to helping families understand their rights and equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to participate meaningfully in the IEP process. Drawing on her dual perspective as both a classroom teacher and an educational advocate, Melissa collaborates closely with families to ensure students receive appropriate supports and services designed to promote meaningful progress. She approaches each case with the same level of care, diligence, and advocacy she would provide for her own child.
In addition to her advocacy work, Melissa serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate through CASA Youth Advocates in both Delaware County and Chester County, supporting children involved in the child welfare system. She is honored to contribute her expertise and passion as a member of The Brave Little Bears Advisory Board.
